When I Did a Field Test

Speed Test

The Crosman 1377 model offered in the United States is very different from the one provided in Canada. The average velocity attained by the shot pellets varies by about 100 feet per second. The Canada model promises up to 500 ft. /s while the US model claims 600 ft. /s. This difference comes from the different triggers placed in the models. Apart from the trigger, other features are mostly similar between the two models.

I had the opportunity of handling the Canadian model, which I hoped would provide around 450-550 ft. /sec in most of the pellet shots. I was only able to make a few shots as this is a pump-action pistol, many shots will require more effort. 

Using super hollow point pellet grains, I was able to obtain the following results when shooting through the chronograph.

• With five pumps- 344 ft./s
• With ten pumps- 428 ft./s

The results that I got from this gun were pretty amazing. These speeds can incapacitate small prey like rodents quickly. The overall feel of the weapon is also another fantastic addition when it comes to this pellet gun.

I went ahead and tried out fifteen pumps to see how the gun would act. It handled the fifteen pumps well and made a velocity of 462 ft. /s. We were not able to get the 500 ft. /s promised by this gun. However, our results were pretty inspiring. Lighter pellets might achieve a higher velocity than this.

Accuracy Test

This experiment required me to shoot the gun at a paper target. On a semi rested position at 30 feet away from the goal, I was able to make five consecutive successful shots. The grouping obtained by these shots will give us an idea of how accurate the Crosman 1377 fairs on real action.

In all the shots I have had to fire on this rifle, including the ones not in this experiment are slop free, and the trigger has a very crisp release on engaging it. The composite stock feel was superb and had a very positive influence on the gun’s accuracy.

A ½ inch grouping was what I was able to get from the five shots I came to fire. This result is a very excellent performance that you would not expect on a gun at its price. I believe that this grouping can be improved by using the perfect pellet and number of pumps that reflect your shooting style. It is no lie that this pistol pellet delivers what it promises on accuracy standards.

How do I Remove the Front Sight on my Crosman 1377?

One of the solutions I found concerning this question was heating the barrel tip. The sight is firmly keyed at the front of the barrel, heating this tip might loosen the view enough to twist it off. This technique is, however, hazardous and unprofessional.

I recommend that you rest your gun on a flat surface and place a block of wood at the most rear point of your sight. Lightly tap this piece of timber multiple times until you knock the view off. Be careful not to damage your barrel.
