Trijicon has been an industry leader when it comes to micro red dot sights. You may have heard of their RMR that has earned a reputation as the king of the micro red dot sights. Naturally, their launch of the Trijicon SRO, said to be an improvement of the RMR, was received with enthusiasm. But is it the ultimate mira de punto rojo for pistol? I put it to the test to see just how well it measures up to the expectations.
One of the questions you might have is, what does SRO stand for? SRO is the short form of Specialized Reflex Optic. It means that this Trijicon reflex sight is designed explicitly for handguns.
Características principales del Trijicon SRO
Being in response to RMR customer requests, this Trijicon red dot sight is nothing short of a game-changer. It has many impressive features, some of which are:
The first thing I noticed is the large Field of View (FOV), which measures .98 by .89 inches. With this size, the red dot never really leaves the optics window, the perfect recipe for faster follow up shots. It achieves that FOV by being rounded instead of rectangular like most other sights.
Sturdy yet Lightweight
It’s built using 7075-T6 forged aluminum alloy and courtesy of the T6 tempering; it has the tensile strength double that of untampered 7075. You may expect such a robust sight chassis to be heavy, but you will be surprised just how lightweight it is as it weighs only 1.6oz! It easily withstands recoil and other “slide ride” forces. It is also submersible up to 10ft.
It comes in three different reticle size options. Consequently, there are three different models from which to choose:
You may now be wondering which MOA to choose. It is more of a matter of personal preference. However, you may want to pick the 5 MOA dot for close-range applications. If you intend to use your handgun to shoot at largo alcance, then the 1 MOA will give you better precision. Personally, I find the 2.5 MOA dot as my sweet spot because it has a little bit of both ranges.
This Trijicon reflex comes with both a manual and auto-brightness reticle mode. You have 8 brightness settings in the manual mode with the lowest 2 being visión nocturna compatible and upper 6 being daylight settings. Additionally, it has a super-bright mode.
It is powered by a CR2032 Lithium-ion battery with 3-year battery life when you use it in the fourth brightness setting. An interesting aspect of when it comes to the battery is that it is top-loaded, which means you can replace your battery without dismounting your optic.
It has the same footprint as the Trijicon RMR and therefore uses the same mounting plate and kit. It doesn’t come with a mount.

Using the Trijicon SRO for Hunting: How Suitable is it?
With the love I have for hunting, I was eager to try it out in terms of suitability for hunting. It works great. Here are the reasons why:
It tremendously improves accuracy. It is easier to place the shot right where you need it. The windage and elevation allow for quick zeroing.
Rapid Target Acquisition
The large FOV allows you to have impressive target acquisition speeds. It enables rapid follow-up shots, which often come in handy when your target doesn’t drop instantly.
With only 1.6oz, it is virtually undetectable in terms of weight when attached to the Glock. It also occupies less space above the pistol. You will, therefore, enjoy hunting with your handgun without being weighed down.
Friendly Brightness Modes
The choice of both automatic and manual brightness modes is excellent for hunting. It means no matter the lighting conditions; you can find the setting that works best for you.
